Chapter 22 - Bend To Become Whole

Bend to become whole;
Meander to find the shortcut;
Empty to become full;
Age to become new;
Lessen to get more;
Have more to lose it all.
The true Daoist knows this to be true.
Let go of ego;
It will become clear;
Let go of superiority;
It will manifest;
Let go of attention;
True effort will show;
Let go of protection;
It will be preserved.
How can you win against
Someone who does not compete?
"Bend to become whole",
Are they just empty words?
No, this is the original truth.

曲则全，枉则直，洼则盈，敝则新，少则得，多则惑。是以圣人抱一为天下式。不自见，故明；不自是，故彰，不自伐，故有功；不自矜，故长。夫唯不争，故天下莫能与之争。古之所谓"曲则全"者，岂虚言哉？诚全而归之。
